The Acoustic Architect.
Dinnerparty Release is the solo project of a Southampton-based musician and producer who builds textured, late-night soundscapes from layered field recordings, analog synthesis, and sparse instrumentation. What began as bedroom experiments in frequency and tone has grown into a distinctive sonic identity — one that lives in the space between ambient music, post-rock, and electronica.
The Genesis
Southampton's Silent Echo
Growing up on the edges of Southampton's port district, sound was never absent — it was omnipresent. The low hum of container ships, the metallic rattle of cranes at dawn, the distant murmur of the Solent. These weren't distractions; they were the first compositions.
A borrowed four-track recorder and a secondhand synthesizer became the tools of an obsessive cataloguer of sound. Every walk home from school produced a new field recording. Every late night produced a new loop. The project name — Dinnerparty Release — arrived almost by accident, scrawled on a cassette label during a particularly productive evening session.
The early recordings circulated through local networks on dubbed tapes and burned CDs. A residency at a now-closed basement venue called The Hold cemented the live format: solo performances built around layered loops, controlled feedback, and an unhurried sense of space that let each frequency breathe.
Today, the project continues to evolve — drawing from a deeper well of influences while maintaining the same commitment to texture and atmosphere that defined those first bedroom recordings. Each release is a document of a specific time and headspace, never repeated, always moving forward into uncharted sonic territory.
